CMGC will re- open Weds 2nd Dec.

CMGC will re- open on Wednesday 2nd December.

The golf course will be back open from Wednesday 2nd December.

Bookings for casual games can be made 5 days in advance for members and 4 days in advance for visitors.

Competitions will be bookable 3 weeks in advance.

All golf must be pre booked.

4 balls will also be allowed which is a big relief given that we have shorter daylight hours.

The Christmas Open on Friday 4th December is still scheduled to go ahead, which is a two-tee start between 9.00am and 11.00am.

We are just awaiting details on the tier system we will be under, as this will have an impact on the clubhouse side of things, we’ll know more on this from Thursday.

Dave will be back coaching from 7th December so if you need to get booked please email

Work during lockdown.

The pro shop team have been working out on the course with the green keepers to help get some work done on tree plantations. So far they have managed to carry out work on 2nd Foxes, 3rd Foxes, 4th Foxes, 6th Foxes, 7th Foxes, 8th Foxes, 1st Deer, 2nd Deer, 3rd Deer, 4th Deer, 6th Deer, 7th Deer and 8th Deer.

This will help create a lot more light and air in to these areas which will help improve grass growth and help dry out these areas. Greens and Tees near these plantations will also benefit from this work.

All tees have been verti drained, sorell rolled and fertislised, this will help with drainage on the tees plus the tees will come back with a better and stronger coverage.

The greens have been sprayed with liquid iron fertiliser as well as having a regular spike/ slit. We also took delivery of the brand new Air2g2 machine just before lockdown, this investment has been in constant use since lockdown with all 3 loops of 9 holes having benefited from 2 rounds of the Air2g2.

The Air2G2 is a walk behind machine that uses three probes to laterally inject pressurised air up to 12-inches beneath the surface of the soil to fracture the compacted layers that form as a result of foot traffic, mechanical traffic and nature’s daily wear and tear. These laterally injected air blasts loosen up compacted soil immediately, but without any disruption to the surface of the turf or the roots below. With frequent use, the Air2G2 creates surfaces that are healthy, firm and ready for play immediately after treatment. Air is everything to anything that lives, and for your soil, the Air2G2 is a breath of fresh air.

We have also commissioned Golf course architect Jonathan Gaunt to do a complete review of the course and provide recommendations for improvement to the greens, tees and bunkers to improve winter playability. Jonathan and his team will be with us on 2nd December. As you can imagine some of the projects will be relatively quick and easy while others are much more costly and long term.

Take care, be patient and we’ll see you soon.
